Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a customer-focused Cosmetic Frontshop Assistant to join the Table Bay store in the Western Cape region. The role is responsible for maintaining high merchandising standards while supporting efficient and friendly service at the point of sale, in line with Dis-Chem policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- 0 – 6 months retail experience
- At least 1 year experience within a cosmetics retail environment
- Certification in Retail or a related field
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all product ranges are fully stocked and neatly displayed
- Monitor shelf stock to ensure items are within sell-by dates
- Replenish merchandise to maximize sales opportunities
- Maintain accurate cash flow handling
- Ensure all voids and price changes are approved by a supervisor
- Process merchandise exchanges and authorized returns
- Handle all transactions including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
- Ensure stock received or taken from the storeroom is stored correctly without delay
- Provide friendly, helpful, and professional assistance to customers
- Follow up on out-of-stock queries using the appropriate procedures
- Secure cash in the drop safe according to company standards
- Verify all payments in line with company procedures
- Adhere to all security policies and procedures
- Protect personal login credentials and update passwords regularly
- Ensure all outgoing items are scanned and paid for
- Follow company policies, standard operating procedures, and health and safety regulations
Competencies
Essential:
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail
- Good communication skills in English (spoken, read, and written)
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry practices
- Experience working with planograms and category management
- Product knowledge and ability to meet sales targets
- Basic numerical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Emotional intelligence and accountability
- Problem-solving ability
- Honest, reliable, and effective time management
Advantageous:
- Knowledge of a third additional language
