Responsibilities
As a Distribution & Planning Lead, you will manage and optimize distribution operations to ensure timely delivery, stock accuracy, and customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily distribution activities and manage the secondary distribution fleet, including drivers and van assistants.
- Ensure customers receive their stock on time and in full, maintaining 100% customer satisfaction.
- Manage Key Account Staff, including training, motivation, and adherence to company policies.
- Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and maintained according to company standards.
- Coordinate transport arrangements, liaising with customers on store management level for deliveries and collections.
- Maintain accurate stock control through dispatching, route cycle counts, and POD management.
- Address stock shortages and claims, enforcing compliance with company policies.
- Manage fleet maintenance and operational aspects in coordination with Route Controllers.
- Report all fleet-related accidents or incidents and submit documentation timely.
- Participate in warehouse cycle counts and review processes affecting distribution operations.
- Develop and motivate delivery teams to achieve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Handle industrial relations and disciplinary procedures for distribution staff.
- Adhere to and promote EHS and Food Safety standards in all distribution activities.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in warehousing and distribution within a unionised environment.
- Proficient in MS Office and SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and team management abilities.
- Experience in FMCG distribution with knowledge of Food Safety standards.
- Ability to think creatively, drive results, and manage teams effectively in a matrix environment.
