Driver Trainer – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Job
The Driver Trainer is responsible for delivering comprehensive driver training to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient driving practices across operations. The role focuses on conducting initial and ongoing training, assessing driver competency, and ensuring adherence to safety, legal, and operational standards. This position includes the development of training materials, hands-on instruction, and continuous evaluation of driver performance through practical and on-route assessments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Training and Assessment

Assess new and existing drivers for competency and compliance

Conduct scheduled training sessions covering soft skills and lifting equipment

Communicate training schedules to management and ensure adherence

Provide coaching and mentoring to drivers to improve performance and competency

Conduct on-route driver assessments and practical evaluations
-
Verify that driver licences and PrDPs are valid and up to date
-
Maintain accurate attendance registers and training records
-
Update and manage driver files on the learner management system

Provide structured feedback to stakeholders on driver assessment outcomes

Capture, maintain, and update training and assessment data on internal systems
Compliance, Audits, and Operations

Facilitate training interventions aligned to TETA scope and requirements
-
Assess learners fairly, consistently, and accurately in line with TETA standards
-
Deliver training in a clear and understandable manner, providing learner support where required
-
Conduct site audits and route inspections to ensure vehicles meet operational standards
-
Support vehicle dispatching and assist with operational requirements when needed

Maintain professional conduct and ensure compliance with company dress code standards

Uphold housekeeping standards on a daily basis

Ensure Health and Safety standards are consistently maintained
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Code EC driver’s licence with a valid PrDP
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Code EC driver
-
Proven experience as a driving instructor or trainer

Clear driving and criminal record
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
TETA registered Assessor
-
Willingness to work evenings and weekends when required
