Job Purpose
Join DHL Global Forwarding as a Field Sales Executive and drive new business development across all transport modes. You will be responsible for growing the customer portfolio, delivering sales targets, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, while providing tailored solutions to meet client supply chain needs.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Management – New & Existing

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to ensure satisfaction and loyalty

  • Respond to customer enquiries and resolve complaints efficiently

  • Manage a portfolio of potential customers, securing lasting business relationships

  • Prospect and acquire new business opportunities, targeting €60k–€1,000k Net Sales per annum

  • Build trust and rapport by understanding customer business needs and market dynamics

  • Recommend solutions aligned to customer requirements using industry knowledge

  • Close business by connecting customer needs to DHL solutions and demonstrating value across the supply chain

  • Collaborate across DPDHL Sales channels to deliver integrated solutions

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and execute sales strategies and plans to achieve target budgets

  • Deliver high-quality presentations of standardized and customized product offerings

  • Maintain and update target lists of new business opportunities

  • Negotiate service contracts in alignment with corporate sales policies

  • Ensure adherence to approved credit limits and payment terms

  • Monitor market trends and provide insights to Sales Manager for strategic decision-making

Business Performance & Results

  • Conduct planned sales calls and follow up on opportunities

  • Achieve product targets and budgeted growth in new and additional business

  • Gather and assess creditworthiness of potential customers

  • Support receivables functions and ensure commitments are communicated to operations

  • Record and report all sales activities, quotes, and client interactions in CRM

Requirements

  • Experience in business development within the logistics or freight forwarding industry

  • Knowledge of all modes of transport in South Africa and neighboring regions is advantageous

  • Strong skills in new business development, account management, cross-selling, and customer engagement

  • Proficiency in CRM systems and sales tools, with experience in Salesforce preferred

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Analytical, results-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively
