About the Role:
The Freight Forwarder, Air & Sea is responsible for managing and coordinating ocean import and air shipments to ensure on-time delivery, accurate documentation, and client satisfaction. This role involves liaising with internal teams, clients, and service providers while monitoring shipments against Estimated Ready Dates (ERD) and Required on Site Dates (ROSD).
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 5 years’ experience in ocean and air freight forwarding
- Comprehensive knowledge of the logistics industry, including Incoterms and customs requirements
- Strong client communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in container/shipment planning and coordination
- Well-organized, able to manage a busy desk, and meet deadlines
- Administrative skills for reporting and analysis
- Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and able to work under pressure
- Team player with a positive attitude
Key Relationships:
- Internal service providers
- External third-party service providers
- Immediate client base

Qualifications:
- Matric (essential)
- Tertiary qualifications advantageous
Computer Skills:
- Office 365 (Teams, OneNote, Forms), MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- CargoWise or similar freight management systems advantageous
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure company performance objectives are met
- Coordinate collection and shipping of cargo in line with client Purchase Orders, ERD, and ROSD
- Monitor shipments and proactively report any delays to management
- Prepare all shipping documentation accurately and on time
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, shipping lines, port authorities, transporters, and third-party providers
- Apply effective communication methods to update internal and external stakeholders on shipment status
- Monitor expenses, control costs, and ensure transit efficiency
- Resolve outstanding queries and ensure on-time client billing
- Conduct daily morning meetings to escalate pending matters and review shipment progress
- Provide proactive liaison with transporters regarding customs stops or delivery delays
- Attend to client queries and shipment-related issues
- Prepare estimates and arrange COD payments when required
- Cover colleagues’ duties during absences to maintain workflow continuity
