Learning Practitioner – Sasol careers
Purpose of Job
Identify learning needs, determine appropriate methodologies, develop learning materials, and facilitate training and assessments for the workforce/learners, ensuring compliance with legal requirements for Power Station operations (Mills, Boilers, and Ash Plant).
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct skills gap analyses to assess current versus required knowledge and propose gap-closing interventions.
- Assess target population profiles and determine the need for learning interventions.
- Support Line Managers in evaluating competence and identifying gaps using standard competency criteria.
- Conduct NQF assessments for employees and facilitate learning interventions through formal and on-the-job methods.
- Develop structured, fit-for-purpose Learning Plans aligned with 70:20:10 principles in collaboration with employees, SMEs, and Line Managers.
- Assist areas in developing gap-closing strategies and assessing competence.
- Coordinate the revision and updating of learning materials as needed.
- Develop and coordinate skills development interventions and confirm successful completion of learning programs.
- Update employee learning records and manage information on the learning management system.
- Track and monitor progress against Learning Plans and implement remedial actions when needed.
- Support the competency declaration process and provide learning feedback to stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to Sasol learning guidelines, policies, processes, and legislation.
- Participate in TRA reviews, PDAs, HAZOPs, and MOCs.
- Govern the use of learning technologies and monitor system effectiveness, considering ROI.
- Provide advice on skills development and monitor workplace skills plans.
- Develop annual learning plans and track delivery, maintaining monthly progress reports.
- Support the updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training modules.
Formal Education
- Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
- Occupational Trade Certificate (Mechanical Red Seal)
- Certificate in ETDP (preferred)
- Diploma or similar qualification in Training (advantageous)
- Qualified NQF Level 4 Constituent Assessor (preferred)
- Post-School Tertiary Diploma (South Africa / Eurasia)
Working Experience
- 8+ years of relevant experience

- Learning and Development strategy, content design, facilitation (virtual and face-to-face)
- HR L&D administration, auditing, evaluation, and digital integration
- Coaching, people advocacy, and cultural leadership
- Business acumen, decision-making quality, and managing complexity
- Strong communication, action orientation, and accountability
