Maintenance Operator Mechanical Gr – Sasol careers

Purpose of Job
Support the Maintenance team by providing effective equipment maintenance assistance, ensuring reliability while adhering to procedures and codes to maintain equipment stability and sustainability.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply and maintain safety standards in the working environment.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and provide feedback to RCA teams.
  • Execute work according to planning and daily assignments.
  • Attend morning meetings to discuss work tasks and progress.
  • Provide regular feedback to supervisors on work progress.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and follow waste disposal procedures.
  • Identify equipment faults using appropriate methods to ensure availability.
  • Attend training courses and seminars to improve competency and skills.
  • Identify personal development needs and incorporate them into PDP with group leader approval.
  • Support business goals by meeting deadlines.
  • Perform plant inspections and repairs to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Provide feedback to customers on work progress.
  • Conduct My IMS inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability.
  • Capture accurate history feedback to improve renewals, upgrades, and replacement of critical spares.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, PDAs, and RCAs to enhance plant safety and stability.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in own work area.
  • Conduct daily inspections on oil levels, quality, and filter conditions.
  • Take oil samples from centrifugal compressors, multi-stage pumps, gearboxes, and fans.
  • Maintain daily oil levels on pumps (force-feed and constant oiler) and compressors (lube, seal, and heating oil tanks).
  • Drain and replace contaminated oil and perform scheduled oil changes.
  • Replace blocked filters and breathers on all oil systems.
  • Perform housekeeping and clean work areas and vehicles.

Formal Education

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics, Science, and English or Full N3 with Mathematics, Science, and English
  • CHIETA NQF Level 2 Occupational Qualification (Mechanical)

Working Experience

  • 1–2+ years of relevant experience

Licenses

  • Code 10 Driver’s License
