Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting a skilled and professional Pharmacist – Tubatse to deliver exceptional pharmaceutical care. The role is responsible for assessing, managing, and fulfilling patients’ medicine-related needs while ensuring full compliance with professional, ethical, and legal standards.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
BPharm or equivalent qualification
-
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
-
Minimum 2–3 years’ pharmaceutical experience
-
2–3 years’ retail pharmacy experience (including student or intern exposure)
-
Computer literate (MS Office)
Advantageous

Relevant retail or FMCG experience
-
Proficiency in a third language
-
SAP system experience
-
E-scripting experience
-
Registered tutor status
-
Unisolv system experience
Duties and Responsibilities
-
Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care and assume accountability for patients’ medicine-related needs
-
Assess therapy for indication, safety, and effectiveness
-
Dispense medicines and scheduled substances in accordance with prescriptions and legislation
-
Check, verify, and sign off prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns in line with GPP requirements
-
Provide accurate counselling and information on the safe and effective use of medicines
-
Monitor patient compliance and conduct follow-ups to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes
-
Initiate pharmacist-led therapy within the scope of practice
-
Compound, prepare, package, and supervise the handling of medicines and scheduled substances
-
Manage the procurement, storage, distribution, and sale of medicines in compliance with regulatory standards
-
Accurately interpret prescriptions and capture script and patient details on the system
-
Ensure correct picking, packing, labelling, and checking of medication, including awareness of dosages and interactions
-
Advise and assist customers at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop
-
Stay updated on medical aid procedures and ensure accurate processing of claims
-
Resolve rejected scripts and ensure authorisation of chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication

Maintain, update, and merge customer profiles in line with system requirements

Support the Dispensary Manager with administrative duties, reporting, and operational efficiency

Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and facilitate bi-annual stock takes

Exercise effective control over stock, cash, and assets
-
Ensure housekeeping, health, safety, and compliance with Dis-Chem policies, procedures, and SOPs
-
Maintain professional appearance in line with Dis-Chem standards
