Job Description

The Promotions Controller is responsible for coordinating, executing, and managing promotional activities to ensure accurate implementation, competitive pricing, and effective collaboration with suppliers, retailers, and internal stakeholders. This role supports promotional strategy delivery through strong administration, data integrity, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Performance Areas

  • Collaborate with suppliers to finalise regional promotional slots

  • Manage supplier billing, deal loading, Guild coordination, special promotions, and cost control

  • Attend National Product Grid selection meetings

  • Brief, load, and manage promotional leaflets on AS400 and integrator systems

  • Compile, complete, and distribute promotional order forms to stores

  • Monitor competitor pricing to ensure market competitiveness

  • Create suffixes, cost products, and process promotional data accurately

  • Review, verify, and approve promotional leaflets prior to release

  • Work closely with Category Managers and Controllers to ensure alignment

  • Maintain and update all promotional changes, ensuring data accuracy at all times

  • Run promotion schedule extracts and validate data integrity

  • Assist with costing and analysis of regional promotions

  • Capture, release, and manage promotional orders

  • Respond to retailer queries and provide ongoing support

  • Liaise effectively with retailers, suppliers, and internal departments

  • Perform additional ad hoc duties as required by management

Minimum Requirements

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • National Senior Certificate (Matric)

  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing or Advertising

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a Marketing or Advertising environment

  • High attention to detail and strong quality standards

  • Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Creative and analytical thinking skills

  • Strong people management and stakeholder engagement skills

  • AS400 system experience is advantageous

  • Proven ability to build strategic working relationships

  • Clear and effective communication skills

  • Strong customer focus

  • Adaptable, flexible, and resilient approach
