Job Description
The Ramp Agent is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time aircraft ground operations by coordinating ramp activities, enforcing safety standards, and supporting flight operations in line with regulatory and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations, including Dangerous Goods requirements.

Maintain general safety and security around aircraft during ground operations.

Liaise between flight crew and ground handlers to obtain passenger boarding clearance.

Monitor the loading and offloading of baggage and cargo, ensuring accuracy and safety.

Communicate and manage any load changes with ground handling partners.

Support efficient aircraft turnarounds to minimise delays by ensuring all service providers are in place for arrivals and departures.

Conduct ramp safety audits and ad hoc inspections in the baggage handling areas when required.

Ensure ramp vehicles are clean, serviceable, and adequately fuelled.

Provide crew transport services when required.

Monitor flight operations to ensure on-time performance targets are achieved.

Allocate and record delays in accordance with operational procedures.

Assist with crew requirements, including coordinating cleaning services, potable water supply, and restroom servicing.

Ensure all required service providers are present per flight, including ACSA, fuel handlers, and other partners.

Arrange support for heavy or oversized baggage and special equipment such as motorised wheelchairs.

Ensure staffing levels meet service level agreement requirements.

Conduct FOD (Foreign Object Debris) checks and report any irregular or unsafe activities.

Coordinate and manage disrupted operations to maintain service continuity.

Monitor ramp and passenger service KPIs, including gate closure times and equipment positioning.

Complete ramp agent documentation for every flight operated.

Compile and submit incident and irregularity reports when required.

Liaise with multiple departments and stations to support seamless operations.

Perform any additional duties as delegated by the senior on duty.
Job Requirements
-
Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (Essential).
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an airline or aviation environment, including passenger services, ramp services, or baggage handling (Essential).

Valid Code 08 driver’s licence (Essential).

No criminal record.
-
Sound knowledge of airside operations and airport procedures.
-
Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills.
-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
-
Ability to multitask, delegate, and work with minimal supervision.
-
Computer literacy.
-
Customer-focused approach to service delivery.
