Senior Manager – Job Description

  • Oversee daily HR administration, policies, and systems to ensure consistent delivery of HR services
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and governance frameworks in line with labour legislation and company strategy
  • Monitor HR metrics including turnover, headcount, and absenteeism, preparing management reports with actionable insights
  • Drive process improvements and digitisation initiatives to enhance HR efficiency and employee experience
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including Employment Equity and Skills Development
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment strategies, attracting high-calibre talent aligned with workforce plans
  • Guide interviewing, selection processes, and appointment approvals, partnering with external agencies and educational institutions as required
  • Provide expert advice on labour law, disciplinary procedures, grievance handling, and workplace conflict resolution
  • Chair or support complex investigations, hearings, and consultations, ensuring fairness and compliance
  • Build line management capability to proactively manage employee relations matters
  • Maintain constructive relationships with unions and employee representatives to mitigate potential disputes
  • Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality, in partnership with Finance
  • Resolve payroll-related queries escalated by HR or Finance teams
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on people-related strategies, risks, and opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulators or service providers
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure HR initiatives support business objectives
  • Represent the organisation at industry forums, regulatory engagements, and talent markets to enhance employer positioning
  • Lead and develop the HR team, fostering accountability, innovation, and continuous learning
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee well-being initiatives
  • Lead the development and delivery of HR dashboards and analytics to support evidence-based decision-making
  • Analyse workforce data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and prepare reports with actionable recommendations
  • Ensure data integrity within HR systems and drive continuous improvement in reporting accuracy and timeliness

Senior Manager – Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • BCom degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related discipline
  • Postgraduate Honours degree in HR or Business Leadership
  • Master’s degree in HR or Business Leadership (advantageous)
  • 10–12 years’ experience in HR, with a minimum of 5 years in a management role
  • Experience in HR systems, process automation, and data analytics
  • Experience managing diverse HR teams across multiple functional areas
  • Aviation industry experience (advantageous)
  • Excellent knowledge of HR procedures and relevant legislation (BCEA, EEA, Codes of Good Practice)
  • Knowledge of Employment Law, Skills Development, and Employment Equity
  • Experience with HRIS systems (preferably Sage People 300) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong knowledge of HR technology and analytics for tracking HR metrics
