Job Overview
FlySafair is seeking an experienced Senior Training Specialist to oversee and optimise training operations across Cabin, Ground, and Technical divisions. This role is responsible for ensuring training delivery aligns with regulatory requirements, operational plans, and organisational standards while driving consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily training operations across Cabin, Ground, and Technical portfolios, ensuring training sessions are scheduled, resourced, and delivered in line with the approved training plan

  • Monitor training schedules to ensure adherence to timelines, effective utilisation of resources, and optimal instructor deployment

  • Act as the operational escalation point for direct reports, resolving delivery challenges and ensuring continuity of training operations

  • Drive standardisation of training processes, documentation, and practices across all training portfolios

  • Align training teams, planners, instructors, and administrative support to ensure consistent delivery, reporting, and compliance with the regulatory training schedule

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across divisions to enhance training execution

  • Identify operational gaps, recommend improvements, and implement solutions to improve training efficiency and effectiveness

  • Gather feedback from team members on operational challenges and work with stakeholders to implement process enhancements

  • Document lessons learned, track recurring issues, and propose practical improvements to strengthen training delivery

  • Compile weekly performance summaries and dashboard inputs, ensuring accurate reporting on delivery, utilisation, completion rates, and instructor performance

  • Provide clear and timely reports on training progress, risks, and key performance indicators, including corrective actions and escalations where required

  • Monitor and manage instructor utilisation, proactively addressing under- or over-utilisation of resources

  • Support audit readiness by validating documentation and ensuring compliance with SACAA regulations and ATO requirements

  • Promote a strong culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement

  • Assess, guide, support, and develop direct reports to enhance performance and capability

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Relevant diploma or degree in Education, Aviation Management, or Training, or a minimum of 3 years’ aviation experience

  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience within a mid-sized organisation, including a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role

  • Operational knowledge of aviation training structures and delivery models

  • Working knowledge of SACAA training regulations and the ATO framework

  • Understanding of rostering and scheduling systems

Advantageous Experience

  • Prior involvement in SACAA audits or internal compliance reviews

  • Experience using AIMS
