About the Program
Value Logistics is seeking a proactive Warehouse Supervisor to manage and control end-to-end picking operations and inventory control within the warehouse. This role leads permanent and outsourced picking teams, ensures strict adherence to processes, drives productivity, and delivers accurate, on-time order fulfilment while upholding safety, compliance, and cost-effective service delivery.
Purpose of the Job
The Warehouse Supervisor is accountable for overseeing picking operations and inventory control, ensuring system-driven picking, high accuracy levels, disciplined execution, and alignment with dispatch timelines. The role supports the wider warehouse team to deliver a reliable, efficient, and compliant service.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Supervise, guide, and support permanent and outsourced picking teams
- Maintain a controlled, disciplined, and efficient working environment
- Conduct daily check-ins with staff on progress, productivity, and challenges
- Ensure picking is executed according to approved processes and warehouse standards
- Enforce system-driven picking and correct bay selection
- Perform random accuracy checks on items and quantities
- Drive picking output to meet productivity targets
- Collaborate with warehouse planners to align picking with dispatch schedules
- Ensure orders are picked on time to prevent delays, added transport costs, and service failures
- Monitor picking equipment to ensure safe and proper operation
- Ensure administrative processes in the picking area are correctly followed
- Provide daily reports on productivity, progress, delays, challenges, and accuracy
- Maintain accurate performance records and document process deviations
Warehouse Supervision
- Lead, train, and motivate picking teams to achieve performance targets
- Enforce company policies, health and safety regulations, and disciplinary procedures
- Facilitate regular team meetings and toolbox talks to drive continuous improvement
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on productivity, accuracy, and inventory performance
- Track KPIs including order accuracy, picking turnaround times, and stock discrepancies
- Maintain documentation to support internal and external audit compliance
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure full adherence to occupational health and safety standards
- Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free working environment
Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment at all times
- Ensure aisles, picking areas, and storage zones are free from obstructions and hazards
- Implement and enforce daily housekeeping schedules
- Monitor hygiene and safety compliance, including proper waste and packaging disposal
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve risks or cleanliness issues
- Ensure tools, equipment, and PPE are correctly stored and in good condition
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred)
- Proven picking experience in a warehouse environment
- Supervisory or team leader experience
Skills Requirements
- Strong supervisory and people management skills
- Working knowledge of WMS, Microsoft Office, and inventory control practices
- Good literacy and numerical ability
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- System-driven and process-driven mindset
