Cashier
Dischem Vacancies is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Cashier to join their Weskus Mall store. The role is responsible for delivering exceptional point-of-sale service, accurately processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales Support
- Provide professional and friendly service to all customers
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships
- Report customer compliments and complaints to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
- Stay informed on current sales, promotions, and hourly customer turnover targets
Point of Sale Operations
- Accurately record all customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system
- Process payments via cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other accepted methods
- Process loyalty cards and accelerator partner programs
- Authorize and document all line voids and price changes with supervisor approval
- Handle exchanges and returns as authorized
Cash Handling & Security
- Take responsibility for cash flow and manage the till accurately
- Place cash in drop safes according to SOPs
- Ensure personal till codes and passwords remain secure and are changed regularly
- Ensure all outgoing stock, items, and prescriptions are scanned and paid for
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding daily takings
- Monitor for and report any suspicious behaviour to management
Compliance & Risk Control
- Adhere to all Dis-Chem customer service, security, and operational procedures
- Ensure the safety of colleagues and customers at all times
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operation experience
- Computer literate, including MS Office
- Strong numerical skills with high accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing and able to work retail hours
