Senior Credit Risk Analyst – Truworths Careers
Truworths is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Risk Analyst to join our Risk and Analytics team at Head Office in Cape Town. The role focuses on leveraging data to develop and implement customer credit strategies that drive profitability while managing risk, providing key insights and support across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in achieving a balanced credit portfolio through accurate forecasting and performance monitoring.
- Develop and implement champion/challenger customer strategies aligned with Board expectations.
- Monitor portfolio performance and proactively propose strategy adjustments to meet KPIs.
- Investigate data integrity issues, validate assumptions, and ensure accuracy of analytical results.
- Analyse the impact of strategy changes on account management and areas of application.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders through reports and presentations.
- Forecast and monitor the performance of implemented strategies using statistical techniques.
- Project manage strategy changes into live systems.
- Apply coding skills for retailer-specific analytics.
- Maintain credit professional standards, including IFRS9 compliance, credit strategy rules, and risk registers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant postgraduate degree in mathematical or statistical disciplines preferred.
- B.Com or Business Science degree (or equivalent).
- 8+ years’ experience in consumer credit within a credit risk analytics environment.
- Demonstrated ability to implement solutions based on analytical findings.
Competencies
- Strong understanding of the credit life cycle.
- Experience with revolving store cards or credit cards advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in both structured and unstructured environments.
- Predictive analytics experience with a highly numerate background preferred.
- Ability to monitor models and report findings to the Board.
- Mentorship and team support capabilities, including training programs.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- High integrity and confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience with SAS (Base, Enterprise Guide, or SAS Viya), SAS SQL, and SAS Python highly advantageous.
