Assistant Clothing Manager

Pick n Pay Careers is seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Clothing Manager to join our retail team. This role supports the Store Manager in driving operational excellence, managing staff, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience in the clothing department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a managerial or reliever position
  • Computer literate (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams/Zoom)
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and stocktakes after hours
  • Flexibility to be relocated between stores when required
  • Ability to perform physical, hands-on tasks
  • Completion of relevant assessments

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Journey:

  • Maintain a customer-centric approach and ensure service standards are upheld
  • Attend to all customer service requests and promote products and services
  • Ensure visual merchandising standards are maintained and all promotional plans are executed

People Management:

  • Assist the Store Manager with all people-related functions
  • Manage and support staff, addressing performance issues when necessary
  • Assist with recruitment, training, development, and succession planning
  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve store goals

Daily Operations, Stock & Risk Management:

  • Open and close the store in line with company security procedures
  • Conduct start and end-of-day reporting and administrative tasks
  • Manage staff scheduling, leave, invoices, pricing, costs, banking, expense control, reconciliations, and adherence to head office instructions
  • Ensure merchandise is received, captured, packed, merchandised, and displayed according to company policy
  • Monitor quality, prevent merchandise damage or soiling, and control shrinkage
  • Maintain compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards

Sales & Promotions:

  • Drive sales to achieve targets and monitor sales performance
  • Execute promotions, markdowns, and RTCs in line with company guidelines
