Inventory Manager – Pick n Pay Careers

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Inventory Manager to oversee all stock control processes within the store. This role is critical in safeguarding stock integrity, managing financial risk, and optimising stock accuracy, availability, and profitability through proactive problem-solving and effective reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • 2–3 years’ experience in inventory control or stock management
  • Strong understanding of stock counts, stock movements, and loss prevention processes
  • Experience with retail systems and reporting tools (e.g., SAP or similar)
  • Proven ability to analyse data and identify root causes of stock variances
  • Computer literate (MS Office)

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Control & Risk Management

  • Execute National, Divisional, and Ad Hoc stock counts
  • Implement exit management controls to minimise stock losses
  • Manage Dormant, Obsolete, and Overstock processes to optimise working capital
  • Analyse stock discrepancies and advise Store Management on corrective actions
  • Ensure all stock movement processes (Shop Use, Reduce-to-Clear, Inter-department/branch Transfers, Waste) are followed accurately

Merchandising & Stock Availability

  • Analyse daily and weekly stock reports, including In-store Category Reviews, Negative Stock, and On-Shelf Availability
  • Confirm stock availability for Dormant, Obsolete, and Exit stock
  • Identify and report deviations from merchandising standards and administrative controls
  • Ensure corrective action is taken for non-compliance with inventory processes

Systems, Reporting & Administration

  • Verify stock-related reports and system postings with the Store Manager
  • Investigate operational stock and movement reports
  • Plan and coordinate ad hoc stock counts as required
  • Maintain system integrity and accuracy of stock data
  • Manage the Stock Availability Programme daily and weekly

People Management & Development

  • Coach, supervise, and support inventory and departmental staff on stock control processes
  • Build inventory discipline through training, guidance, and regular feedback
  • Promote accountability and adherence to SOPs across the store
