About the Role:
The Operation Manager, Contract Logistics is responsible for managing end-to-end warehouse and logistics operations, ensuring client satisfaction, operational efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement. This role leads a team of 50–100 employees, overseeing inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse processes, and part supply for automotive clients, ensuring alignment with DSV standards and strategy.
Qualifications:
- Matric
- Degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field advantageous
Computer Skills:
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), CMMS key user experience advantageous
- Strong knowledge of WMS EWM
Experience & Job Requirements:
- 2–5+ years in automotive material handling, line supply, or Tier-1/OEM manufacturing logistics
- 3–5 years supervising warehouse operations, including performance and absence management
- Experience managing multiple operations, inbound/outbound logistics, and sequencing
- Knowledge of inventory variance investigations and corrective actions
- 1–2 years in compliance management and service delivery to clients according to SLA
- Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative measures experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure, extended hours, and weekends
- Organized, results-driven, high attention to detail, and self-motivated
- Reliable transport
Added Advantages:
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with CMMS, Movis, SKS, SAP, SMART systems
- Project management skills
- Familiarity with sequential, Kanban, or Pick-to-Light supply streams
Key Responsibilities:
Operations:
- Lead and manage all aspects of contract logistics operations, ensuring adherence to DSV policies and standards
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse processes, and part supply through sequencing
- Drive operational performance metrics, continuous improvement initiatives, and Lean culture
- Ensure operational readiness for launch programs and support full scope of responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with SHERQ, Quality Management Systems, and local safety authority requirements
Client Relationships:
- Ensure client needs and expectations are consistently met within SLA scope
- Analyse client complaints, delivery failures, and damages to implement corrective actions
- Manage monthly KPI dashboards, root cause analysis, and reporting to clients
Commercial & Financial:
- Investigate claims and report incidents internally
- Monitor service delivery against SLA, ensuring financial and commercial performance targets are met
People Management:
- Develop, motivate, and manage direct reports, ensuring job descriptions, training, and development plans are in place
- Align headcount and resources with budget requirements
- Enforce DSV policies, values, and compliance with labor regulations
- Resolve HR and industrial relations issues in collaboration with HRM & IR specialists
- Coach and mentor team members to achieve client objectives, including IDPs and succession planning
Other Duties:
- Support branch manager with additional operational or strategic responsibilities as required
- Ensure communication of relevant information throughout the team and accountability for outputs
