Job Overview
Sea Harvest Vacancies is seeking a qualified and experienced Supervisor to join the Fresh Fish Operations Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the production plant, maximizing plant performance while meeting production targets safely and on time. This role requires maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring that customer expectations are consistently achieved.

Purpose of the Role
The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities to ensure operational efficiency, compliance with safety regulations, and adherence to quality standards. The role focuses on achieving production goals while maintaining a safe and productive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Workforce Management
- Guide, direct, and supervise teams in line with overall company objectives.
- Monitor and manage employee absenteeism and conduct absenteeism counseling when necessary.
- Ensure staff competency levels are maintained and support skills development initiatives.
- Address disciplinary matters when required and complete incident reports with proper follow-up.
- Provide coaching and support to address poor performance.
Production Management
- Monitor production yield and labor efficiency.
- Ensure products are produced according to required specifications and quality standards.
- Manage production downtime and improve line efficiency.
- Implement FIFO processes and ensure full product traceability.
- Monitor and manage production line performance to meet operational targets.
Workplace Safety and Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace hygiene.
- Monitor staff hygiene practices in the production environment.
- Arrange corrective training when product non-conformance occurs.
- Ensure all products are produced according to required specifications.
Operational Efficiency and Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within production processes.
- Support the development of systems and practices that promote innovation, safety, and continuous learning.
- Manage production improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant NQF Level 6 certificate of competency is preferred.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant experience in a production or processing environment.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and health and safety procedures.
- Understanding of production and processing operations.
