Forklift Technician – value logistics

Purpose of the Role

The Forklift Technician is responsible for performing mechanical and component maintenance, including removal, cleaning, assessment, and assembly of parts. This role ensures forklifts and other vehicles are serviced to operational and safety standards while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle and Component Maintenance

• Inspect vehicles for general defects before repairs.
• Compile technical reports detailing repair requirements.
• List spare parts needed for repairs.
• Strip components from vehicles and clean them.
• Assess parts for wear or damage and assemble components using new or used parts.
• Identify component or system failures, discuss findings with team leaders or workshop foremen, and record details on job cards.
• Document all tasks, parts used, and time taken for completion on job cards.
• Service and repair vehicles according to OE specifications and schedules.

Operational Support

• Perform standby or after-hour breakdown duties as required.
• Maintain productivity and efficiency standards.
• Monitor, train, and guide repair shop assistants and semi-skilled artisans.
• Report unsafe working conditions or equipment to team leaders or workshop foremen.
• Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assist with operational functions as required.

Professional Standards

• Maintain professional conduct at all times.
• Follow company dress code and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Maintain daily housekeeping standards in the workshop.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Red Seal Qualification
• 2+ years of relevant experience advantageous
