Job Summary

The Process Control Assistant supports the Supervisor in the operation, cleaning, washing, and sterilisation of sand filters to ensure effective water treatment processes. The role includes operating manual valves, maintaining sand filter beds, monitoring sump pumps to prevent flooding, and ensuring clean, safe, and compliant filter house facilities.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• Minimum of 1 year relevant experience

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with sand filter maintenance, including checking filters, topping up sand beds, removing mud balls, tilting and sieving filter beds
• Clean spreader holes, plates, drains, and sand traps within filter houses
• Support the washing and sterilisation of sand filters by operating manual valves
• Monitor and operate sump pumps, including visual checks of amp meters, to prevent flooding
• Perform shift-related duties, including manual hand-feeding of lime and HTH
• Provide general assistance during filter house shutdowns
• Maintain cleanliness of facilities such as toilets, changing rooms, and eating areas
• Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety requirements by using issued PPE, reporting injuries, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, chemical spills, and incidents to the Supervisor

Knowledge Requirements

• Basic understanding of water treatment processes
