Role Overview
The Area Manager Clothing is responsible for overseeing the execution of store standards, human resources, promotions, finance, administration, and overall maintenance across multiple clothing stores. This role ensures operational excellence, drives business performance, and monitors adherence to Pick n Pay Clothing standards within corporate stores.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric), N3 equivalent, or Clothing-related degree.
- 5–8 years’ experience as an Area Manager, preferably within the clothing retail sector.
- Knowledge of merchandising principles, fashion trends, and visual merchandising.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Computer literacy; SAP knowledge advantageous for report analysis and interpretation.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead and support a team of managers and crew within the flagship stores.
- Recruit, develop, and manage staff, including disciplinary actions and employee relations cases.
- Identify training needs and coach teams to improve performance.
- Provide on-the-job guidance and expertise to managers, supervisors, and crew.
Operational & Business Performance
- Implement strategies to achieve business targets and drive store performance.
- Ensure operational efficiency and compliance with company policies.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement actionable improvement plans.
- Approve store schedules and monitor overtime costs.
Stock & Merchandising Management
- Manage stock take planning and processes.
- Monitor product availability, visual merchandising, new line launches, and overall range displays.
- Ensure housekeeping, hygiene, and maintenance standards are maintained in all stores.
Customer Experience & Standards
- Monitor and maintain customer service standards across all stores.
- Ensure staff appearance, behavior, and performance align with company expectations.
- Ensure promotions, pricing, and display standards are accurately executed.
Administration & Compliance
- Oversee administrative processes, trade and people checks, and operational compliance.
- Authorize maintenance and improvements as needed.
- Maintain alignment with Pick n Pay Clothing policies, standards, and values.
