Job Description
The General Assistant is responsible for providing excellent Customer Service, merchandising stock, ensuring accurate shelf price labelling, and maintaining housekeeping standards within the designated area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year relevant work experience, or Grade 12 without work experience
  • Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
  • Valid South African ID or work permit
  • Basic numeric skills for accurate calculations
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work under pressure

Key Performance Areas

Customer Service

  • Advise and assist Customers on products and queries
  • Assist with resolving Customer complaints professionally

Merchandising Standards

  • Merchandize bulk stock safely according to Store layout plans
  • Ensure all areas of responsibility are fully merchandised in line with planograms

Housekeeping

  • Maintain a tidy area free of obstacles
  • Merchandize stock immediately upon receipt
  • Ensure Customers can move safely in aisles
  • Maintain correct shelf price labelling within assigned area
  • Complete checklists for canteen, toilet, and shower schedules as required

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  • Comply with OHSA safety standards, including use of safety gear
  • Ensure stock is safely merchandised to allow safe movement of Customers and colleagues
  • Report safety discrepancies to the Store Manager

Stock Loss Management

  • Report damaged stock within area of responsibility to the Store Manager
