About the Role
The Technical Service Specialist is responsible for overseeing engine performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness across the fleet. This role plays a key part in ensuring airworthiness compliance, proactive maintenance planning, and data-driven decision-making to support safe and efficient operations.
Job Description
As a Technical Service Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Performing engine trend monitoring on CFM56 series engines.
- Managing leased engines to ensure compliance with airworthiness requirements, including ADs, SBs, and modification status.
- Planning module changes in alignment with operational and cost-efficiency objectives.
- Developing and managing repair schedules for owned and leased engines.
- Providing technical input to fault analysis and maintenance strategies for recurring defects and reliability issues.
- Ensuring maintenance effectiveness and line reliability of fleet engines.
- Conducting critical analysis of engine performance and drafting engineering orders for preventative maintenance.
- Managing and improving the cost-effectiveness of the engine program.
- Forecasting engine requirements to support technical, operational, and economic planning.
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Licensed aviation professional.
- Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in the aviation industry, with a strong focus on CFM56 series engines.
- At least 5 years’ experience in aviation engineering with component knowledge and aircraft type experience on Safair-operated fleet types.
- Formal training and hands-on experience on CFM56 series engines.
- Willingness to work overtime when operationally required.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable aviation regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft engine documentation and manufacturer technical data and manuals.
- Knowledge of or experience with MRO systems is advantageous.
- Previous experience in engine trend analysis is preferred.
- Borescope inspection experience is advantageous.
