Explosives Operator Gr 1 – Sasol Careers

Purpose of Job
Prepare and maintain the work area for start-up and packaging operations. Operate label sticker machines and scanners, prepare boxes for packaging, and handle weighing and inspection of cartridges, including during shutdowns.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensure all safety equipment, tools, and machinery are available, functional, and used correctly.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in plant and surrounding areas.
• Operate plant equipment according to operating manuals and safety instructions.
• Communicate with KP machine operators and mixers regarding production schedules and potential issues.
• Adhere to relevant legislation, ISO standards, CIE guidelines, and 5S systems.
• Prepare plant for maintenance activities and assist with repairs where required.
• Conduct quality checks on manufactured products.
• Update production records, manually tracking daily output and breakdowns on production graphs.
• Operate packaging equipment including Box Packer, Chubb/Explosives systems, and Cartridge Packer.
• Monitor and control waste within the production area.

Formal Education

• Completed Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Qualification with Mathematics and Science is advantageous.

Working Experience

• Minimum 1+ years in explosives manufacturing.
• Experience in Water Gel Plant operations is an advantage.
